HB1019 – Raise % of Barrel Tax to Clean Energy
HB1019 – This reapportions the existing $1.05 per barrel tax to ensure that a greater percentage is allocated to clean energy. Lately this fund has been raided for other purposes.
The bill improves last year’s carbon tax law by requiring that the collected funds actually be dedicated primarily to Hawaii’s food and energy security – as was the original intent.
The bill was passed by both the Senate Committee on Energy and Environment and the Senate Committee on Agriculture on Tuesday, March 22. The Ways and Means Committee will hold a Public Decision Making on Wednesday 3/30/2001 9:30 AM in room 211 and it’s not too late to submit testimony here.
