Airport Meeting
KAHULUI – An informational meeting on the Kahului Airport Master Plan Update and Noise Compatibility Program by the state Department of Transportation will be held Nov. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The gathering, the third of four meetings scheduled on the island, will be held at the Kaunoa Senior Center, Rooms 101 and 102, in Spreckelsville.
The purpose of the Kahului Airport Master Plan Update is to assess the capacity of existing facilities and to determine if those facilities are adequate to meet projected future demands.
The Kahului Airport Noise Compatibility Program will identify existing incompatible land uses and offer proposals to prevent additional incompatible land uses.
There will be presentations on recently completed operations and passenger forecasts, alternatives for planned improvements and updates on current projects.
“These meetings are vital opportunities for the public to help guide the future development of Kahului Airport,” said Glenn Okimoto, state Transportation Department director. “Public input is crucial in developing a long-term plan that will successfully continue to meet the needs of the community.”
