Following up on our widely discussed Mālama ‘Āina Report, Maui Tomorrow has continued to work with farmers who are making the transition to regenerative, sustainable agriculture. These types of practices can eliminate runoff of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, thus improving coastal ecosystem health. They can also contribute to making local, organic food available here on Maui, which is critical for food security. Once put down as being unrealistic, farmers in Waikapū and other areas are proving that regenerative agriculture is feasible.
