Our Accomplishments
For nearly three decades Maui Tomorrow Foundation has worked in partnership with many community groups on issues vital to Maui’s quality of life.
Mākena Settlement
The creation of a 155 acre beach park at Pu’u Ola‘i/Makena, a site where luxury condos once were planned, is just one example of these combined community efforts.
Kamaole Point
Without timely legal intervention by Maui Tomorrow, Kamaole Point in Kihei would now be a private development.
Hāna Town
When a golf course was proposed for their town, the Hāna Community Association joined forces with Maui Tomorrow and filed for legal intervention.
Wailuku Heights
Alongside the Wailuku Forest Preservation Coalition, Maui Tomorrow aims to forestall risky development in the steep slopes above Wailuku Heights.
Wailea 670
Working with Sierra Club – the settlement led to the protection of over 160 acres of land containing ancient Hawaiian villages as well as rare and endangered plants and animals.
Affordable Housing Plan
We were the first to call for a non-profit land trust as well as an affordable housing land trust. Both have now been established on Maui.
Malama ‘Āina Report
Maui Tomorrow created this report to start a conversation about Maui’s farming future and the importance of providing environmentally responsible stewardships of the land.
Olowalu
After our successful lawsuit opposing the proposed shoreline hardening at Olowalu, we worked with the Hawaii DOT to identify alternatives to seawalls as erosion solutions.
