Our Projects
Maui Tomorrow will continue to protect Maui’s precious natural areas, promote ecologically sound development, and preserve our rural character. We are growing our endowment, annual budget, and staff to take leadership roles on these six integrated issues and to collaborate with existing organizations to bring financial and other resources to assure successful and enduring outcomes that get results on Maui.
Current Projects
Makila Kai
The new developments proposed for Launiupoko will have significant impacts on the existing neighborhood, the nearby reefs and beach parks, and the already intolerable traffic on the West Side.
Aenergia
The renewable energy conversion and sludge processing project at the county’s wastewater plant ignores ecological impact and needs a new and more thorough Environmental Impact Study.
Maui Water
Maui’s water future requires long-term sustainability, care for the watershed lands, respect traditional water uses handed down from the Hawaiian culture, and transition from private control.
Kīhei Mega Mall
The Mega Mall is a 700,000 square-foot South Maui retail complex composed of two individual malls. One, the Pi’ilani Promenade would consist of 400,000 square-feet on 68 acres and the other, the Maui Outlet Mall, would consist of 300,000 square feet on a 30-acre site.
Paia Bypass
Department of Transportation proposing a new route that doesn’t provide a long-term solution or look at the community or ecological impact. The suggested solution cuts through existing neighborhoods but costs lower than using former A&B routes.
